Hyde Park, London
Mews 4 is a refurbishment to a 5-bedroom house in London. The initial brief was to redesign the timber-framed conservatory designed in the 80's in the Victorian style. The solution was to replace it with a similar form so as to not have to submit a potentially laborious planning application.
The original design of the 3-barrel vaults was transformed into a contemporary sine curve form, with 3 large curved double glazed units, the largest single horizontal units in the UK. This new external space was the springboard for a new aesthetic approach of the rest of the house.
ama took the opportunity to design all the built in joinery, bathroom units and the bespoke door handles and even specially configured door hinges.
The result is an elegant blend between the clients existing classical spaces and furniture and ama’s own contemporary interventions.
